The speaker this month is Dr. John Hughes. He is a speaker who talks
about the birds of Ascension Island, a remote military base in the South
Atlantic Ocean. Hughes is an ornithologist, land surveyor, and former soldier
who studied the island's seabirds for decades.
John’s work received an environmental project award from the Ministry of
Defence. He has published 15 scientific papers on Ascension birds.
